Ayşe Nur Gençalp was raised in Istanbul, Turkey. She majored in General Business at the Istanbul Technical University and State University of New York. After graduation, she worked as a financial analyst for two years in Istanbul and New York. She completed her MFA in Film Production at the Miami International University. She also was a Teaching Assistant at MIU and New York Film Academy.
Ayşe wrote, directed and produced short films, including her award winning, “Once Upon a Time” in 2011. Her short-film was chosen to be screened at New Filmmakers New York and she has won multiple awards for her cinematography work, including the Miami International Film Festival and LA Independent Film Showcase. She worked on two feature length films as a cinematographer. A short film called “Helva” that she was the cinematographer of, which screened at the Cannes Film Festival 2016 Short Film Corner. She currently resides in İstanbul, developing interdisciplinary projects and working as a film instructor and education coordinator, cinematographer and photographer.
She has been working in the academy as manager, responsible for organizing seminars, conferences and courses. She has been creating and practicing new and qualified education programs for companies and schools.
