Olivia began her pursuits to become a cinematographer in her early years at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. There, she practiced her skills by shooting projects for her fellow students on a weekly basis. But just as importantly, her experience at NYU opened her mind to an artistic approach to storytelling that today sets her apart as a DP.
As her career continues, Olivia’s passion is shooting narrative films. Though she thoroughly enjoys music videos, documentaries, and commercials, Olivia’s talent remains to be in capturing stories. She is best at building upon ideas and adding to them with her own. Having shot 9 features thus far, her goal is to continue to find compelling scripts that offer an opportunity for Olivia to connect with the characters and visually tell their tales.
During school, the industry was still shooting on film. As soon as she graduated, Olivia was thrown into the blossoming age of HD video. Today, she owns an Alexa which is often regarded as the best digital camera on the market. Its film-like quality offers a naturalistic visual medium that is rare to come by in the technologically driven world of cameras in this decade. Olivia is a proponent of cinematography that enhances but does not distract the viewer from the story. This is evident not only in her choice of camera, but also in her shooting style.
